The WRA supports the entire mountain community, including Painted Cave, with various fire prevention, planning and preparation programs, as well as managing the San Marcos Pass Volunteer Fire Department. The WRA also manages the San Marcos Pass Emergency Radio System-SMPERS in conjunction with the Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council. SMPERS provides public safety and emergency information to the mountain community 24 hours a day, seven days a week on 1040 AM.
Painted Cave residents may receive window decal passes to serve as proof of residency during road closures by calling the WRA office at 964-7194. These decals will not allow access into hard closure areas.
