FIRE PREPARATION MEETING

The Painted Cave Volunteer Fire Department and Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council will be hosting a meeting on Sunday, July 15 to discuss fire safety and defense planning for the Painted Cave community. The meeting will cover the following and more:

2018 Fire forecast for our area
Update on the San Marcos Pass Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP)
When the fire comes
Expected County, Forest Service and Mutual Aid responses
Painted Cave Volunteer Fire Department plans
Individual and Community Defense Planning
Community Fuel Break System
Individual Home Protection and Defensible Space
Emergency Notification and Evacuation Planning
Animal Evacuation
Community Participation
Volunteer Projects
Funding our fuel break program

The meeting will focus on current plans for the Painted Cave community, but is open to all interested mountain residents.

The WRA supports the entire mountain community, including Painted Cave, with fire prevention, planning, and fuel mitigation programs, as well as managing the San Marcos Pass Volunteer Fire Department. The WRA also manages the San Marcos Pass Emergency Radio System-SMPERS 1040 AM in conjunction with the Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council. SMPERS provides public safety and emergency information throughout the San Marcos Pass and mountain community 24 hours a day.

Painted Cave residents who are WRA members receive window decal passes to serve as proof of residency during road closures and/or a reflective address yard sign. If you have any questions please call the WRA office at 964-7194 or contact the local WRA representative.
