The San Marcos Pass Volunteer Fire Department automatically responds to areas on or adjacent to Highway 154, between "Windy Gap" and the West Los Padres National Forest boundary; San Marcos Road from Highway 154 south to 1840 Old San Marcos Pass Road; Painted Cave Road; West Camino Cielo to Santa Ynez Peak; East Camino Cielo to La Cumbre Peak; the San Marcos Trout Club; Hidden Valley; Kinevan Road; Rosario Park; Stage Coach Road and sections of Paradise Road. The San Marcos Pass Volunteer Fire Department has one Mac Type-1 engine located on West Camino Cielo and two Type-7 brush patrol trucks, one in the Trout Club and the other located in Rosario Park. Both patrols are compressed air/foam units that enable the department to provide state of the art protection. The WRA has a current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and an "automatic aid" agreement with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. This agreement is part of the county-wide fire plan that includes the Los Padres National Forest. Fire Vehicle Locations
Communication Equipment
The WRA radio system is compatible with the county fire department and the forest service. The radios are equipped with the standard local mutual aid frequencies and the FIRESCOPE coordinated frequencies in accordance to the Santa Barbara County Area Mutual Aid Plan. . The WRA also operates the San Marcos Pass Emergency Radio System, SMPERS 1040 AM. The station covers the San Marcos Pass Communities and Highway 154. |
